Oden (icebreaker) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A quite large Swedish icebreaker. In fact it's our largest.

A couple of Antarctic missions are listed on the Wikimedia page, but it's actually been there every northern winter four years in row.

But this year it's been decided it'll actually be used in Sweden to break ice for shipping the next winter. Because last winter the four other large (but not quite as large) ice breakers weren't really enough.

The Antarctic missions are of course scientifically important. But interestingly enough, there doesn't seem to be any US icebreaker available for them.
