I haven't gone to the raw data, this is actually from a magazine, so the choice of which models should count as "one" isn't mine. For example, the 242/244/245 were all called 240 from 1983, so that makes sense. But why not group the 260 with the 240 as the 760 is with 740? I don't know.

It looks like the reason people stopped buying Volvo 240 was that they stopped making them, not the other way round. Its production actually stopped one year after 740!
